Taking Better Photos

A guide to getting the most out of your digital shots

We all take photos. Wether they are for personal enjoyment or for sharing with family. Wouldn't it be nice if the photos you were taking looked good? It might be easier than you think to take great photos.

Last Christmas (2004) I received a Konica-Minolta Dimage Z1 SLR (Single Lens Reflex) digital camera. It's a nice camera, so I was a little surprised and disheartened when I looked at my first set of photos I had taken. All of the images were either way too bright or they were very noisy. Even with my Photoshop skills I couldn't bring the pictures to the point of looking the way I wanted.

I knew that the problem was the fact that I was using one of the auto settings on the camera and just pointing and shooting. but I wasn't really that interested in learning how to use the camera's various manual modes. I decided to take a look through the camera's instruction manual and see if I could get a handle on this camera. It paid off in a big way.

Hopefully this writeup will serve as a guide to help you acheive maximum quality out of your images. Select a section below to begin your journey to amazing photos.
