The case of the deflated enthusiasm

It has been a long road for my brother-in-law Jamie and I… For around 3 months we have been going to the gym five days a week and working out. That unique drive created by the feeling of doing something you should have been doing anyway lasted for quite a while and it was almost too easy to keep going. But alas that has worn off and all that is left is the bitter reality that it is hard work to go to the gym. But, we’ll keep going, even if it’s not as “fun” as it used to be.

The progress has been great, don’t get me wrong. If the scales there are correct (which isn’t likely, I have to admit) I’ve lost around 40 pounds so far. I’m also bench pressing 300 pounds now, an all time high for me. In general we’re both getting much stronger and I’m having much more energy throughout the day. The hardest part is getting up at 6:45 every morning, I’m not much of a morning person.

We’ve been going Monday through Friday from 7:00am or so until around 8:30am. It’s nice to be there when there’s no one else there, but it’s also hard to be motivated that early in the morning. We’re going to try going in the evenings for a little bit and see if we can’t get a spark going again, I think that’ll do it.

And the reviews are in…

I’ve been looking forward to Peter Jackson’s remake of King Kong since I first heard about the project shortly after the last Lord of the Rings film was complete. I’m a big fan of Peter’s and I have a great amount of respect for him as a director.

Not long after production started on the film I found a wonderful website that offered lots of news/inside scoops on the production of King Kong as well as some short production diaries in video format. I was hooked. If you haven’t already seen them, you can check out the full list of production diaries on KongIsKing.net. The movie was released yesterday and the critic’s reviews have been astounding, some even calling it one of the best films of all time.

As much as I would have loved to have gone and seen the film on opening night, that’s one of several movies I plan on seeing with my dad when he gets into town this weekend. So, I’ll have to keep myself from thinking about it until then.

Winter is here…

Sun and MoonYesterday’s snow storm brought winter right to our doorstep. I could tell early on in the snow storm that it was going to be pretty bad, and it was. This morning, when I went out to clear off my car, I was amazed to see that there were drifts in our front yard that were nearly two feet high. The actual snow accumulation was probably closer to 6 to 8 inches, but it looks like a lot. I worked for nearly a half hour trying to get my car free of the snow and finally was able to get to work.

Dad, Joene and Austin will be arriving next weekend and I am very excited, we’re going to have a great time. We’re planning on lots of great food and movies. Dad and I are planning on watching all of the first season of Lost so he can get cought up and see whether or not he likes the show. I’m a HUGE fan of the show and can’t wait for him to see it, I think it’s one of thee greatest TV shows of all time.

I’m still doing a lot of photography in my free time. I haven’t been taking as many trips out to get photos, but that’s mostly because of the ugly time of year (at least when there’s no snow on the ground. Hopefully I’ll get to go out at least once this winter to get some photos. I’ve been posting a lots of photos on Flickr to try and make sure that anyone who wants to see my photos can see them online if you’re interested, you can visit my Flickr page.

Another bit of interesting news, I was contacted by a video game company who wanted me to write a review for one of their recent releases on this website. I got a gree copy of the game and I’m really looking forward to trying it out and posting a review here for you all to see.
