Going to the movies!

It’s friday and it’s a long weekend, what more could I ask for? I’m headed to the movies tonight to see a movie that I’ve been waiting around 6 months to see. The Day After Tomorrow looks like it could be the grandaddy of all disaster movies and I’m a big fan of that genre.

I’m going tonight to see it with my father-in-law and brother-in-law. Kristen and her mom are going to see Shrek 2. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Shrek movie, but I’d much rather see a film about large cities being buried under blankets of snow and ice.

I’ve been working on a project with my father-in-law for the last week or so. It’s essentially a website that allows coaches to input their roster data as well as register athletes for different events. It’s pretty complex and I’ve learned a ton from doing it. I’m getting down to the refinement stage with it and can’t wait to test it out with some real data.

I finally got a printed version of the Quaker Life magazine that I worked on back and I was pretty happy with it. It looks exactly as I had planned and it’s nice to have something that you created printed out and distribution-ready.

Not much else going on right now. Sorry.

BSF is over for the Summer

It’s been a long, hard study this year. There have been many times that I didn’t think I could keep going, but I did. There were many times that I didn’t have my lesson done, but I went anyway for the lecture and was very blessed. BSF, the September through May Bible Study that I participate in, is finished for the summer. I have to admit that I’m not as happy as I thought I would be to see it end for a while.

Last night was our final night and consisted mostly of participant testimonies about how the bible study had touched them over the last year. One of the most moving testimonies was by one of the primary children/teen leaders. His words communicated very clearly what I feel inside. I only wish I was so expressive verbally. I think I would love to lead a teen group in BSF, but I’ll have to pray about it to see if that’s where I’m being led.

Kristen and I are going on Friday night to see a play! The local theatre (http://www.richmondcivictheatre.org) is putting on a production of The Music Man. It’s one of Kristen’s favorites, and I’ve never seen it, so I thought it would be fun to go.

I’m currently working on a new design for my personal website (http://www.evanagee.com). It’s had the same design for a while, and although I like it, it’s time for change. I’m thinking of doing something that’s much more involved that could eventually turn into a site where I can promote myself and my work. I need a place to keep track of my designs and websites that I’ve built.

That’s it for now.

Online dramatic audio

I renently came across a website that offers a large amount of streaming dramatic radio shows. Sci-Fi.com’s Seeing Ear Theatre provides a huge collection of online audio dramas including Tales from The Crypt and other mystery shows. It’s pretty fun to listen to while working. The “Playhouse” section is my favorite because it contains more 50’s style science fiction, but some of the others are good too.

There’s not a lot going on right now. I still feel like I’ve got a lot going on even though things have slowed down quite a bit. I’ve really felt the relief from pressure that has come from being able to spend time at home in the evengings. It’s very nice.

I’ve made a couple of small design updates to my website (evanagee.com). Most of them are very minor and you probably wouldn’t notice them, but they’re there. I’m feeling a design update coming on for the site, so watch out… :)

I’ve also been experimenting some with digital “art”. I’ve tried to create some artwork that reflects my mood when I created it and I’m pretty happy with the results so far. You’ll see three examples along with this post.

I’ll post more when life becomes a little more colorful. :)

Finished!

I finished the issue of Quaker Life that I’ve been working on for the last month! After having to start over in the last week or so, I was sure that I was in trouble. However, the magazine ended up turning out better than I imagined! I’ll try to show some parts of it once I have it in-hand.

It’s been a rough schedule and I’ve definately been feeling the effects of it, but I’ve managed to keep going. I’m very glad to be done though. It was fun and it was a great learning experience, but it was also a lot of work.

What will I do with my free time? I don’t know, but I bet it will be fun.
